You've been sold on the idea that you can have it all. And, that you can achieve work/life balance while having it all.
In the late 1970's there was a commercial for a perfume called Enjoli,
and it had a catchy little jingle that I used to sing in the mirror that went like this...
I can bring home the bacon
fry it up in the pan
and never let you forget you're a man
'cause I'm a woman
Now, you may or may not be old enough to remember that commercial, but ideas like that have set us up to believe that in order to have it all, that we have to be it all and do it all too.
That's causing you to feel stressed out, burned out, and overwhelmed. You are always busy and exhausted. You are doing so much to keep up with the demands of your work life and your personal life that it's taking it's toll on both.
