I know you probably think I'm weird talking about sweat, but hear me out for a minute. It's the reason we, as humans, can outlast the fastest animals on the planet. We can outlast wolves, cheetahs, antelopes and all of the animals that are built for speed. Crazy right?
Sweating happens to be our superpower for endurance. When I found this out, I started to have a new appreciation for sweat. To be clear, those animals will catch and eat us in a sprint, but they can't outlast us in a marathon because we can sweat to cool off. They can't.
Ok, so why am I talking about this and why is it important? Well, I just found this out and I love sharing my learnings with you. Maybe I'm the only one just hearing about this but I think it's pretty cool.
So naturally, I'm thinking about how amazing we all are as human beings when it comes to our persistence and endurance. Think about your life and the goals you set.
If you are operating like a cheetah, meaning that you are a sprinter, you will run out of steam and need to stop. You can't keep going at that pace without burning out.
Now, if you are operating at a steady, consistent pace, you will definitely have the energy needed to reach your goals, because of your endurance. Your imagination, combined with perspiration, will allow you to chase down anything... all of your goals and dreams.
This is exactly what high-performance is all about. Steady, consistent and maintaining your energy while you are advancing your career and your goals.
