Hey ,
Did you know that people who read every day improve their memory and critical thinking skills? Reading has also been linked to a lower risk of Alzheimer’s Disease.
Today, I want to share a book I read a few years back that has had a lasting effect on my life and one I just read recently that is sure to have the same lasting effect.
Enjoy…
The Universe Has Your Back

One day I found myself having to make a decision either based on my fear or on my vision. I was freaking out. What if I make the wrong decision?
You see, I was building myself as a speaker and the opportunities I were getting required me to travel and miss work as a dental hygienist. When I approached my employer to switch my days so that I could still work, but be available to travel, he told me that he would need to replace me altogether.
I didn’t expect that and was about to have a nervous breakdown. So, I called my former coach and freaked out to her. I knew she would tell it to me straight. Not only did she do that, but she recommended that I read, The Universe Has Your
Back.
It turned out to be just what I needed to shift my perspective from fear, to vision, to ultimately trust. Often, we get what we ask for when we are not ready receive it. It can be scary. If you tend to be a person who is waiting for the "right time", this is the perfect book for you.

Caste by Isabel Wilkerson
This is a must read for anyone seeking to really understand why the conversations around race and racism are so charged and often misunderstood. The extensive research that was done to explain the power and hierarchy of these systems in America, Germany and India, was mind opening at best.
Honestly, when I listened to this book on Audio, I was astonished by how much I didn’t know. It also had me doubting if the deep, internalized system that is dependent upon keeping others “in their place” will ever change.
The sadistic treatment of those, determined by the color of their skin to be inferior, by those who are deemed superior based on the color of their skin is heartbreaking. Will we all, as humans, ever be seen as equal and deserving of the same rights and privileges? Please read/listen to this eye-opening book.

The Intimacy of Race by Eva Medilek (ME) is now on Amazon kindle! The positive feedback that I continue to receive from those who have honored me by reading my book, continues to fuel my intention of working to bring us together. My client, Connie, just told me that
my book poked her in all the right places. I loved that analogy. There’s a lot you can read that hits you like a sledgehammer. For some of us, that may be good and for others of us, that can scare us into silence and inaction.
My hope and intention is that you are poked, just enough to awaken from unconscious biases into conscious, intentional allyship.
Reading is one of my favorite ways to shift my mood and awaken my curiosities. I would love to hear your recommendations as well.
All the best,
