I knew what I wanted to create would be controversial. In fact, I was hesitant to even send it out in a mass email.
A part of me still wants to be liked and accepted by everyone, at least the folks who follow me here, even though I know that it's impossible. Even though I speak up anyway, the fear of rejection still lives on.
But, I practice embracing that fear and doing it anyway. So far, I haven't died from speaking up and taking a stand.
Last week, when I shared The Diverse Talent Showcase with you all, I knew I was taking a risk of losing some followers and subscribers. It caused me to pause and think about it for a minute.
I shared the showcase anyway and as I thought, I had a lot of people unsubscribe. Part of me was disappointed that I didn't do a better job of showing my intention of unity and inclusion.
Then the other part of me talked some sense into me. Not everyone will be on the same page and mission or aligned to your mission and values and that's okay. It's better that they leave and follow someone who is more aligned with them.
Noticing what was coming up for me, I was inspired to share this video on YouTube. I'm sharing it with you here because I know that you have felt the need to be silent, due to fear of what could be lost if you spoke up. You are not alone. We all feel this way at times and there is a journey to this confidence and courage thing.
Hang in there with me and if you haven't joined the Diverse Talent Showcase yet, please do. You will not be disappointed.
