I always dreamed of designing a life where I can slow down whenever I wanted and just do nothing.
The truth is that I hate slowing down. I still feel guilty when I do. I love having the choice to do so, but when I do, my mind still races to all the things that I "have" to do.
Can you relate? Lexi and I just came in from taking one of our breaks outside to reset our brains. I was resetting my brain from responding to emails. She was resetting her brain from having to wake up to go and take another nap to reset. π
Here's the thing, as we slowed down to reset, clarity presented itself. Clarity for my next action of integrity. Clarity for my next creation. Clarity on what to make for dinner. And, clarity on where I can support one of my clients.
You get the picture. We need periodic resets throughout the day for clarity. One of my mentors, Brendan Burchard, likens these resets to race cars stopping for a pit stop.
The benefits of resting and resetting, before we are tired and run out of gas, allows us to go faster and further and get better results with fewer mistakes and less likelihood of a breakdown.
Here's how you can begin to implement resets into your day; every 50 minutes, take a 10-15 minute break to:
- Get up and move your body
- Drink water
- Close your eyes and say the word "release" repeatedly
- Take 10 Deep Breaths in through the nose and out through the mouth.
Commit to implementing this high-performance habit into your work day for a week and let me know if it makes a difference in your performance.
You may not believe that you are a high-performer, but you are. If you commit to implementing this habit into your life, reply to this email and make yourself accountable. You got this!
Now, if you find yourself saying, I don't have time to do this, I'm too busy, then you and I need to talk. You will, and probably already are, paying a price for being "too busy".
Being too busy could be costing you your health from the stress, your well-being from the overwhelm and your relationships from the frustration.
What if you could figure out a way to work efficiently, without sacrificing what's important to you? The number 1 regret of people on their death beds is not what they did, but what they didn't make the time to do.
Last year, this world lost over 3 million people to the coronavirus pandemic. Did you ever think that you would see a world-wide pandemic in your life time? I certainly didn't. That was stuff you read about in the history books.
We lost time with loved ones and millions were restricted from physical touch with those we cherish. When you think about that, doesn't it make you value how you are spending your time and what you are spending your time on?
So, let's hop on a call and create a game plan for you to get clear, prioritize and implement high-performance into your life. It's not as hard as you are making it out to be. I promise.
