Honoring Black History by Sharing Our Stories

|
The Association for the Study of African American Life & History chose 2021’s theme for Black History Month: The Black Family. Family is important to all of us;
it's the fabric of which we are made and the source of our lives and identity. And it’s important we explore the ways Black families have been portrayed in media, history, and politics.
I can testify that my family & personal experiences were a driving force behind writing my book, The Intimacy of Race.
I believe that walking with people to help them understand their privilege, rather than simply condemning them for it, is the key to unlock true and lasting change. That’s why the book is full of simple steps to start shedding light on your privilege and how you can help the Black community.
