How many times have you started a project or a dream, only to be detoured by distractions or competing interests?
Perhaps you are a great starter and build momentum fast, but then that momentum fizzles out somewhere along the way, because, you know.... life.
Guess what? You are not alone. The struggle is real. If you could only take a peek into my head, you would find hundreds of exciting ideas, plans and dreams, all excited to have their chance in the world. It's quite a scene in there.
But, why do some of them have the staying power to reach maturity, and others get lost in the crowd and forgotten along the way? Honestly, it's the clarity that comes with high-performance.
I know when you hear the term, 'high-performance', your mind has a visual as to what that term actually means. Maybe you are visualizing a athlete training for their sport or a high powered executive working their way to the top.
Let me change that visual in your mind and show you how you can be a high-performer in your life.
Here's the thing, success means different things to different people. It can be measured in different ways as well. For me, my success is measured by how I show up to the people and projects that are important to me. And, how I walk through the challenges along the way.
Can I be happy, energetic and fully present without fear, frustration and overwhelm leading the charge? Am I living a life aligned to my vision and values? And, am I feeling healthy in my mind and body?
The distinctions in my questions are, how can I sustain that over the long term? Can this be part of the fabric of my life that doesn't just come in strong and fade over time? Can I keep up the habits, practices and principles that bring me success every day of my life? What threatens to throw me off track and lose momentum?
Of course, life happens and loves to throw us curve balls. How can you and I not let those curve balls cause us to strike out and give up? Or, if we do strike out, how can we regroup and hit a home run the next time we are up to bat?
Not sure where that baseball analogy is coming from, but I like it, so let's keep going with it.
Anyone that has played baseball or any other sport, knows what it's like to have coaches, mentors and trainers that have made a difference in how they played the game. Do you see where I'm going here?
How do you set yourself up to win and be successful in your life? What habits and practices are you implementing consistently, to achieve, maintain and sustain your results and continue to stretch to that next level?
That's where you become a high performer. That's where you have the choice to achieve what the world calls balance. Having a life where you are showing up as your best self at home, at work and everywhere in your life.
It can be the difference between being a passive participant in your life, or intentionally making choices that create the results you want to achieve.
