Hey ,
Today is February 1st. Not only is it Chinese New Year, it's also the start of Black History Month.
First, I want to wish everyone who celebrates the Chinese New Year a wonderful celebration with friends and family.
Second, I also want to presence the start of Black History month. With the work I do for allyship and cultural intelligence, some would expect me to be all over the place posting about Black History.
But, if I'm being honest, I'm having some issues being aligned with the multitude of posts about Black leaders and Black history during this month. You see, I have a FaceBook group called The Intimacy of
Race. Every day, I'm in there posting about Black History. It's part of my commitment of sharing resources of learning and lifting the voices of Black leaders and businesses.
It's more than just the month of February for me. When I read posts, like the one below, I can't just be satisfied with February. Black folks are Black every day. Racial injustices happen everyday. For me, this is a movement, not just a month.
I saw this post sometime last year and I saved it. At first, I thought it was a real representation of racist ideologies and beliefs. But as I looked at it today, I see the logic but in a different way.
