Hey ,
I was thinking about why people get stuck. Stick with me for a second .
What I realized is high performers like me and you hit plateaus, and it's not because we aren't trying. We are, as I said, by all normal measures we are performing at a high level.
So why the plateau?
One of the main reasons is the people around you. Your friends, family, employees...
Let me explain. I'm not saying the people around you are bad or wrong per se. It's just often your family and friends aren't sufficient alone to keep you performing at your highest level.
Sometimes they don't have your best interests in mind or they subconsciously keep you at your current level. It's our natural instinct to prioritize ease over impact. It's easier to have you stay the same then it is to watch you soar.
You may be feeling this even more right now because you've been stuck at home.
Before you go and cut off anyone currently in your life, there is another way. I'm sharing this not to cause you to blame anyone, but to point out an opportunity for you to take an even deeper level of responsibility.
The Fix: Curate a social circle that pushes you to your next level. When you think bigger, you will do better.
A few ways you can do this:
- Attend the right professional or personal development courses and make friends!
- Hire the right coach.
I've done both of the above and each has made a huge difference. Hiring the right coach has been a game changer for me and it's why I've become a Certified High Performance Coach myself.
