Hey ,
Yesterday, my husband cleaned the house. I mean really cleaned the house. Me, however, not quite that ambitious.
I decided I would organize my desk. And, since it was on my list of things to do when I had time, I thought it would feel good when I did it.
It didn't.
Something about having the time to do all of the "stuff", I never seemed to have time to do was depressing to me.
I can't explain it but I don't like having the time to clean and organize. Don't get me wrong, I don't mind doing that stuff. Hey, I'll organize stuff before the cleaning ladies come.
What I discovered was that I didn't like having plenty of time to do it. I need to feel the urgency of a deadline or something.
Is it just me? I would prefer to NOT have plenty of time to clean and organize everything in my house. I would rather be busy and schedule it as an event.
So, instead of speaking at an event this weekend (canceled for obvious reasons), I organized my desk while my husband took on the task of a major house clean of a house that was pretty clean to begin with.
With speaking engagements and travel canceled, I'm finding out some things about myself. As someone who loves to be busy and productive, I'm not enjoying the extra time as much as I thought I would.
What about you? Is having extra time what you thought it would be? We are all adjusting to life as it is now. There will be days when we adjust better than others.
My point is sharing my little story with you is to say that amongst all of the blessings we have in our lives, we will be struggling from time to time.
It's normal and to be expected. But there are choices you can make to bring relief and get support.
Find what you can do to bring you joy and feed your soul. For me, it's learning and taking some online courses.
What is it for you? What makes you feel good? This is just a reminder to make sure that you are finding things that bring you joy.
