Hey ,
I know I'm old and not very tech savvy, but did you know it was possible for artificial intelligence to compliment you?
My husband bought me this alarm clock that syncs to all of our google home apps.
It's pretty cool to just ask your alarm clock to set itself without fumbling with the time and buttons and stuff.
So, last night when I said, "hey google, please set the alarm", I was literally floored by her (yes..her) response.
She actually acknowledged how I asked. She said something like, "what a nice way to ask."
Seriously, a robot acknowledged my politeness. And, I have to admit, I loved the compliment. It kinda made me feel good about myself.
Of course it got me thinking about how you and I could really up our acknowledgement game.
Think about how good you feel when someone takes the time to acknowledge something your said or did. Being acknowledged goes a long way.
Don't you find yourself stepping up your game a bit when someone notices and "sees" you for who you are?
Your words matter. Being seen matters. We all want to be appreciated and noticed. More often than not, it's just the spark we need to keep going and perhaps go that extra mile.
Now, I make sure I say please to my alarm clock every night. But, not only to my clock... even though I love hearing the love from her.
But making a conscious commitment to acknowledge the people in our lives, in our circles and especially in our homes will really make a difference in making someone feel seen, heard and that they matter.
"The deepest principle in human nature is the craving to be appreciated"
~William James~
Who can you acknowledge today?
