When I was in Dubai, I couldn’t walk five feet in the souks or malls without being approached by a vendor.

One man was selling socks.

I told him I couldn’t stop; I had an appointment to see The View at the Palm Jumeirah.
But I promised I’d come back.

He didn’t believe me.
Most people say that and never do.

But I did.

I returned after my appointment and chose a pair for my husband.
The vendor smiled and said, “Pick one more pair and I’ll surprise you.”

I did.

To my shock, he gave me two additional pairs for free.

“Because you came back,” he said. “You’re the only one who kept their word.”

It reminded me:

✅ Integrity isn’t about grand gestures.
✅ It’s in the small decisions, especially when no one expects us to follow through.
✅ And it’s not just about honoring commitments to others — it’s about keeping the promises we make to ourselves.

In leadership, how we do anything is how we do everything.

Keeping your word builds trust.
Not just with others, but with yourself.
And sometimes, it even comes with an unexpected reward.

Integrity is a core value in my life and business. It’s something I haven’t seen much of in leadership today.

You and I have the power to change that in our own personal leadership. It’s not easy, but it’s vital. We have an opportunity to role model the way. Not only for others, but for ourselves as well.
