Dear ,
Across the country, we are witnessing a rollback of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives—not just in government but in major corporations as well. Companies like
Google, Target, Meta, and Walmart are scaling back their DEI efforts, bowing to political and economic pressures. At the same time, federal actions are dismantling DEI programs in public institutions.
As I listen to the news and hear of all that’s happening to separate
folks even further, it saddens me. My first reaction was to give up and take a step back because it’s just so painful to witness. And I did, for a minute. I needed to rest and regroup so that I could have the energy needed to take action on my values and not give up just because it’s hard. I still get to be in integrity to what I value and committed to being the leader I was born to be.
But just because corporations are shifting away from DEI, that doesn’t mean you have to. Real change has always started with individuals willing to lead with courage and commitment. Regardless of your role—whether you're a business leader, educator, entrepreneur, manager or associate—you have the power to create environments of safety, belonging, and collaboration.
