Yesterday was a hard day for a lot of us. We are living in some scary historical times. I, just like you, are feeling a lot of feelings and emotions. It’s hard to process. It’s hard to know just what the right thing is to say and it’s hard being human these
days.
If I could share just one thing with you today my friend, it would be to allow yourself to feel the emotions that you are feeling. Have grace and compassion
with yourself and with others.
You will be triggered by what you see and what you hear, and it will be tempting to give a knee-jerk response. You don’t have to react
immediately. Set boundaries on your time and energy and make space to process all that you are experiencing.
You need to be your number 1 priority right now. Walk,
journal, and protect what comes in and out of your brain. Listen, I’m talking to myself too when I say this. The best version of me is getting lost in my feelings and emotions and it’s a signal for me to focus on my mental, emotional, and physical health first, so that I can be responsible in my actions and words moving forward.
It's the classic, ‘put your oxygen mask on first.’
Regardless of where you stand with your beliefs and values, you get to take care of yourself first, then you will be able to show up as the leader that you are and support others in your life.
