The month of March saw us honoring Women’s History and celebrating International Women’s Day. I love seeing women come together and celebrate themselves and each other.

Here’s what I’m celebrating….

Last week in Las Vegas, I was awarded The Outstanding Leadership Award at the CXO 2.0 Conference. It was such an honor to be recognized in this way. I never imagined receiving honors or awards for anything in my life past college. I’m so grateful.

I also want to celebrate my accreditation as a virtual presenter. When I started implementing speaking into my business, it was during the height of the COVID shutdown and I honed my craft by speaking virtually to audiences all over the country. It's different than speaking in person. It's nice to be recognized for having this skill.

The Secret Thoughts of Successful Women by Valerie Young

As I speak with and coach other women, we all share a common theme. That is, imposter syndrome. We all seem to think we are not good enough at what we are doing or how we are doing it. We are apologetic, humble, and not in full ownership of our greatness most, if not all, of the time. I love how Valerie has done research on this and hopefully, if you are a woman, you will know that you are not alone. Most importantly, know that you are enough and you are darn good at what you do.

The Oscars

Specifically Da'Vine Joy Randolph’s Acceptance Speech

Even though I didn’t see all of the movies nominated this year, I love watching the fashion and learning about the foreign films nominated at the show. This year I really enjoyed the format change of having the past winners introduce the nominees one by one. That felt special this year, and I’m sure it made them all feel special.

When Da’Vine Joy Randolph won, she said in her acceptance speech, “For a long time, I just wanted to be something different. Now I realize I just need to be myself.” I’m sure that so many women felt that to their core.

Trying to please everyone at the sacrifice of your authenticity is a painful way to live. Her message hits hard and is true: you just need to be yourself.

Often, I have to remind my clients to celebrate. Celebration breeds confidence. So my message to you is to celebrate you. Not just your big deals, but all of the little things you do that are helping you move your dreams and goals to fruition.
