Dear ,
Many people have sent me articles and information about the history of the Israeli/Palestinian conflict. On a humanitarian level, I am vehemently opposed to the terrorism and murder of civilians.
I've been diving into the listening and learning of a subject that is beyond my lived experience and worldview. Today, I stumbled across Dr.
Gabor Mate, a Jewish, Hungarian-Canadian physician and writer, who also happens to be a holocaust survivor.
As I watched his video on the current events in Israel and Gaza, a quote popped up..
"It's not what you know. It's what you could know if you wanted to find out."
As I'm seeing Jewish celebrities, Jewish friends, and the mainstream media declare their support for Israel and label the attacks on
Israel as being based on anti-semitism, it was natural for me to lock arms with them.
But, I decided to be on this quest to educate myself and to dig under the under so that I could be better informed and not led blindly by what the media chooses to share and wants me to believe.
This video, by Dr. Gabor Mate, among other articles and videos that I'm consuming, was a powerful, digestible, lesson on what's really happening and how
the fight actually came into being in the first place.
The colonization and displacement of the Palestinian people is very similar to what happened here in the United States. England wanted land that others already occupied and they brutally took it. Same with Israel.
Dr. Mate explained it very well in this video 👇🏽
