Every year, for my birthday, I raise a little money for a charity or a cause. I've been doing this for the last few years and this year the cause is special and personal to me.
My dear colleague and friend, Terra Christoff, had been undergoing breast cancer treatment. We were excited for her to be coming to the end of her treatments
cancer-free.
She even came to visit me in Berkeley recently and we were planning ways to support each other in business now that she was cancer free and getting stronger (see photo).
Then recently, Terra was experiencing extreme dizziness and nausea. On Friday, she was hospitalized and was diagnosed with brain cancer, which was caused by metastasis of her breast cancer. Emergency surgery successfully removed a tumor from her right cerebellum, thankfully. Unfortunately, there are three tumors left;
the doctors have recommended that they be treated with radiation. She is still undergoing radiation for the breast cancer.
Terra’s healing trajectory is expected to be a long one and she will need lots of
support along the way. Her previous treatment has prevented her from working for the last nine months and her husband has been her full-time caregiver, which has impeded his ability to work as well. Critically, they need financial support - in addition to your emotional and spiritual support - to make it through this profoundly difficult chapter.
